Book – Trouble is a Friend of Mine (2015)

Book – *** – Stephanie Tromly’s story is weakest of the three books on my current YA mystery reading list, as almost all the relevant discoveries are made by the secondary character, Digby, who we meet on page one. The main character, Zoe Webster, isn’t named until page ten. Like Vanishing Girls, there is a disappearance too, in this case Marina Miller. Digby, who’s sister also disappeared, is in possession of every possible fact Zoe or the reader needs and has them at his fingertips without apparent time or effort required to obtain them. Too many character quirks and unlikely situations for a reader’s “willing suspension of disbelief” to keep up with.
