Book – **** Continuing romance series by Kaylin McFarren following treasure hunters Rachel and Chase’s steamy adventures into a very realistic Japanese setting facing opposition from the Yakuza.
Lovely slice of life-in-Istanbul from a cat’s point of view.
Book – **** Swedish thriller by Joakim Zander that paints that paints a realistic tale of power brokers and the lengths they will go to control their secrets. A fast-paced quick read.
Book – ***+ A dark fantasy, taking the traditional beggar-thief to wizard journey but as a supernaturally empowered assassin. Clever writing—not for kids.
A sweet break from Pacific Northwest rain. Pineapple is about 4 inches tall – just getting started.
Inventive story of the troubled elderly Logan and the remnant of the mutants, but treaded too close to a John Woo film substituting knife slashes and their resultant carnage for the typical cascade of bullets and blasted bodies.
Great story of the math uncertainties of the early space race. Also highlights the blindness inherent in racial prejudice, especially in a business like NASA’s built on facts and sometimes split-second team interactions.
